AX1800 WiFi Router R6700AX

Two years ago I mistakenly decided to upgrade from a N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400v2 to a Nighthawk AX1800 WiFi Router R6700AX (Firmware Version V1.0.18.164). I have it wired via new CAT6 ethernet cables to a TCL Roku TV and a ASUS laptop computer and have gone through every setting trying to make it stop disconnecting from the internet periodically for 2-3 seconds at a time and nothing has helped. If anyone has had this problem and found a solution, then please tell me what it is. Thank you.

Your firmware version is the most recent Netgear has released for your R6700AX Wi-Fi router.

What is the name brand and model number of the modem/ONT that is connected upstream between your router and the internet?  Look at the nameplate on back.

Many of the router settings are interactive and several combinations will not work at all.  After you made all the changes, did you perform a firmware default (factory) reset to start fresh?  Normally, the default settings have a good chance of working with a minimum amount of basic configuration input.

If your upstream modem/ONT is responsible for the drops, there is nothing your router can do to compensate.

There are lots of good ideas in this paper for resolving intermittent cable modem, and thus router, issues.   https://www.duckware.com/tech/solving-intermittent-cable-modem-issues.html

      Thanks for your reply, Kitsap.

Yes, I did do a factory reset after making changes and the problem persisted. I'm going to connect the modem direct to TV now to see if it continues, and if not then I will make another attempt at a factory reset and see what happens.

The modem from Spectrum is model EN2251 DOCSIS 3.1 eMTA by Hitron Technologies. It is the second modem I've used with the Nighthawk and N600 routers and both of them performed the same --- N600 no issue, Nighthawk intermittent discos.

Okay, so I connected the modem direct to TV and after 20 mins there were no disconnects (normally they occur every 5-10 mins). Then I did a factory reset on the Nighthawk and watched the time on the TV for 45 mins and had not one disconnect. I will continue to monitor for the rest of this week, and if the issue does not recur then I will come back on here to report all is well and select your reply as the solution.
