Ax4 in access point mode

I bought a rax4 wifi and want to use it as an access point on my home network. I set it into AP mode and am given 2 choices, let existing router decide (dhcp) or set manually (static). When using dhcp method, it works but I have no idea what my wifi devices IP is so it's a pain to get in and make changes. When I statically assign the IP, gateway, subnet and dns it goes wonkey. The wifi router is dishing out IPs and the gateway is 192.168.1.1 instead of the 10.9.9.1 (gateway is out of network). I want all dhcp to be handled at my border router and the wifi to act as a dumb media bridge. Basically, I want to statically assign the wifi device and dhcp the clients. Is this possible?

Ax4 is hooked to cisco 3560 switch and 2901 router.
