AX5200 AP Mode Web interface

I have a nighthawk ax5200 in AP mode, and it seems the web gui is only accessible through wireless and through whatever ports I'm not using as the uplink to my main switch.  Whichever port I have plugged into my main switch, the web gui doesn't work through it.

This is precisely the inverse of how I'd like this to work. I want the management interface to be accessible through the wired connection to my network (and preferably ONLY that way).  Is there any way to fix this?

  • Are you trying to access it using its ip address?

did you assign a IP address outside of your routers range for the RAX devices?

Just curious what iP address your primary router is on and what the RAX uses.

    What switch is it?

Yes, I'm accessing it via http using the IP, I am 1000% sure I'm using the correct IP, there is no conflict with the DHCP pool, it's in the correct subnet, there are no routing issues, etc.  The switch is a GS108E, but that doesn't matter.

The issue is not on my network, it's the web interface on this router/AP rejecting the connection.  I can connect, but the connection is immediately closed by the router (verified with tcpdump) if it came through the uplink instead of one of the "client" ports or the wireless.

I don't see any option in the config to allow "remote access" like there is in router mode, which makes sense since in AP mode it's not connected to any WAN, nothing is remote.  But for the same reason, rejecting connections on the uplink makes no sense, since that's just a switched connection to the rest of the network, it's where management SHOULD be done from.

I'm guessing I'm out of luck here and will have to get out a laptop any time I want to use the management interface.  At least until DD-WRT adds support for this model.

it should work. I've used more than 1 RAX device in AP mode and didn't have any issues connecting wired or wireless.

Have you tried a simple factory reset/reinstall?

what actual ip address is assigned to it?

What ip address is assigned to the router?

        Are you using vlan's?
