Bought refurb RAX70 and cannot register to my account
Hi All,
I bought a refurbished Netgear RAX70 router from Amazon last year and after downloading the Nighthawk App, clicking on Security requests that I log into a different account that has registered my router. It appears the original owner registered it before returning it to Amazon and did not bother to unregister. I emailed the Netgear support e-mail earlier this week, but haven't heard back yet. Is there anything I can do to get the device registered so that I can take advantage of the Nighthawk app security features?
Thanks!

It's not my account that the router is registered to. I can't unregister it. I do not know the person who registered it, as they returned it to Amazon shortly after buying and registering it.
Not really. it'd be waiting on customer service to do so. Thats sadly the gamble you take with refubs.
It can take a little more work

That sounds like "registered for Anywhere Access".
You don't need "registration" in itself to use a router. All that does is to get you the 90 days of free support, which you don't qualify for, and one-year warranty.
You don't even have to register a device in that way to use Anywhere Access, which requires a different sort of registration, although some people tie it to their warranty registration details.
As plemans says, you need "divine intervention", in the shape of customer service, to dig you out of that hole.
Is there anything I can do to get the device registered so that I can take advantage of the Nighthawk app security features? Can you explain what you mean by that? Again "security features" can mean several things. What are you doing and what prompts do you see? There may be ways into what you are trying to achieve.
