Can't Decide which to purchase: Netgear Wifi 6 Duel Band (RAX120) or Tri Band Router (RAX200)
II know I want to purchase one of the two routers. I'm not sure if a tri-band WIFI 6 router would be overkill. I have a total of 30-35 devices. These devices include three iPhones with WIFI 6 capabil...

Huh. I must have gotten a defective one because mine works fine?

I'm with you, I purchased the RAX120 and then purchased another for a family member and both work fine.
very good WiFi coverage and work as intended with the latest firmware.
If I'm honest the QoS needs some work still but apart from that no issues.

Sure it works fine as long as you don't want to use 802.11 ax or you don't care if it is slower than a 5 year old router.

ax works fine for me, no problems here.

I've had two of these routers like I said. Both had issues with the ax network dropping speeds to 1-6 mbps. Even when ax works it won't ever connect at the 2.4 gbps that the cards are supposed to connect at, well it does for like 6 seconds and then immediately drops between 1.2 and 1.4 gbps. Exact same issue on both and on multiple ax adapters. When using ax when it is actually working or ac on other adapters the actual speeds are around 500-600 mbps but I have a 5 year old Asus AC3200 that negotiates to 1.3 gbps and the network speeds actual that I get are 600-700mbps. The range on this thing is terrible too. If you are literally upstairs directly above it, so maybe 15 feet away through some drywall and plywood you are looking at 60-80% signal. Upstairs in another room, maybe 40 ft from the router the signal is so bad it just drops. On my AC3200 it is 100%. I have to go outside past my mailbox to drop below 60% signal with that router. There are multiple users on this site that have had the same issue. If you have it working you are lucky, I figure you are in the minority in that it works for you. The readyshare also has major issues. I mean seriously, they can't even get usb to work. Ridiculous. All around this router is a huge waste of money. You could easily get a $100-150 router with better range, better stability and equivalent or maybe even better performance.

Perhaps the R7800 might be a better choice for you if you are struggling. Has a cracking WiFi and more if you do some research.

I have to say I must have a faulty unit too as with AX turned on and OFDMA using a iPad which which only has 802ac im hitting 685Mbps on 5ghz as a data rate, my download speeds are fine as are my upload. My signal covers my entire Bungalow and quite a lot of the surround street, no idea whats going with yours, firstly have you got an AX device like a smatphone/tablet iPhone etc, to test with also have you actually factory reset and started from new without usimg a config file after updating. The RAX120 works like a dream for myself and has since October when I got mine. Feels like a case of dont feed the troll here.

Yes, I have two ax devices and both have the same issue. They will work mostly...for awhile and then the speeds will drop to 1-6 mbps and you have to disconnect and reconnect to get the speeds back to normal. They will then stay this way for a few hours until the speed drops again. I have to say it is better with the 1.0.1.122 firmware. They actually last a few hours. Before it was about 15 minutes. Both had the same issue with both the RAX120 routers I've had. Like I said aI RMAd the first one. The other issue though is that on ax the negotiated rate is never more than 1.4 gbps and almost always is 1.2 gbps. On both ax devices, no matter the distance from the router, on both routers. They should be able to do 2.4 gbps at least close to the router. I have ac devices that will do 1.7 gbps and they actually do negotiate to that from the same distance that the ax devices will be getting 1.2 gbps. These will stay connected just fine as long as you don't go more than 40 ft from the router at which point the signal drops off to non-existent (same thing with both routers I've had). The actual speeds I see when connected aren't bad, but they aren't really good either. Like I said my old Asus ac3200 actually gets better real life download and upload rates especially on the 2.4 Ghz band.
You call me a troll, but I've had two routers that did the exact same thing. I've worked with tech support to solve it and have gotten nowhere. I have factory reset the router more times than I can count and wasted like 40 hours trying to get the router to be even remotely stable. That just isn't acceptable. I tend to believe that users that are on the forums that say their netgear routers are working amazingly are either paid toadies of netgear or extreme netgear fanboys or why else would you be hanging around the forums. If you scroll through the forums though you will see hundreds of posts about users having major issues with these routers. If you scroll through the Amazon reviews and actually look for reviews on the RAX120 (since they clump a bunch of netgear routers together there) you will a bunch of terible review for the RAX120. I guess all of these people just got duds too then.

Mine works its that simple, other peoples routersdo as well. Mostusers dont come on the forms to say how well things work! Most of the time its a case of user error it seems over the years I have been here. At the end of the day I really dont care what router you use, I use what router suits me at the time, obviously geting it working would be useful but maybe its time to call it a day as I have not seen your issues before with the RAX120 from users on current firmwares like 118 and 122. I am on these forums as I am a netgear user and have a netgear product that simple. Did you by any chance use a config file from the first router to set up the second router? Have a nice day and i hope you get it fixed.

I find many of the bad review are dated back in its early form of firmware.
There's always going to be the odd faulty hardware sadly but I find it mostly user based error ie updating and then resetting before the router fully booted for example.

TWO ROUTERS, both same issues. Is that hard to understand. It isn't like it is a one off. I would RMA the second one too but it costs me money to RMA it each time and I'm pretty sure the router is just a pile of $%#@%@#. Good that the routers work for you, but they don't for many many many users. And they aren't old reviews. There are reviews all over the place including onces from the last few days. If you look at the thread about the release of the 1.0.1.122 firmware itself there are many people on there saying how the firmware sadly didn't fix their issues.
If I just got two bad routers then clearly the hardware is faulty far far too often. I'm giving my suggestion to the OP and that was to run run run far far far away from the wifi 6 netgear routers as they are terrible regardless of whether yours work or not. It is apparently pure luck if it does as there are far too many that do not work.
And I never use a saved config when setting up the router again after a factory reset. Always do the config manually.
