Can't set domain name; DHCP only hands out its own address

I can't find a way to set two very common options in the DHCP configuration:

1.  Router only hand out its IP address, not that of my two internal DNS servers.  The queries seem to bounce off the router and then get redirected to the listed DNS server.  This is incorrect.  It's less secure, takes an extra hop and puts extra load on the router.

2. I can't find a way to set the domain name (example.com) or have the router hand out the domain name so that the host can set its FQDN (fully qualified domain name; host.example.com).

Am I missing somethign or is this a glaring omission?

Can this be fixed or is my only option 3rd party firmware, just to get basic functionality?
