Changing 5ghz Channel

I have a Nighthawk RAX50 and I'm wishing to change both the 2.5 and 5ghz channels so they don't interfere with my SkyQ setup.

I can change the 2.4 one ok but when I try to to change 5ghz it won't accept the changes and reverts back to 36 all the time.

The router is running in AP so is this preventing the change?

  • What channel are you changing it to? If  you're changing it to a DFS channel and there's something broadcasting on the DFS channels in your area, it'll revert back.

Hi and many thanks for your response.

I'm trying to change it to 44, as the SkyQ uses 36. I've looked at it further and it does show up to 1200, 2400 and 4800Mbps on channel 44, however up to 600 is still on channel 36.

Does this mean it is correctly set to channel 44 and I can ignore the setting for up to 600?

      Thanks,

      Chris

If you're using "up to 4800mbps" it actually uses channels 36-64 because its 160hz wide.

At up to 2400mbps, its only 80hz wide. So it can either use channels 36-48 or 52-64.

so it really doesn't matter if you set it for channel 36 or 44 if you're going 4800/2400mbps wide channels.
