- denadeanOct 30, 2020AspirantFor those of you who have internet brought into your home by coaxial cable, this is what you need to do:
Option 1
Plug the router directly into the router using an ethernet wire. If this doesn't work, you may need to call your ISP and have them switch your service from coaxial to ethernet. If you're like me, and the placement of the modem isn't convenient try option 2.
Option 2
You'll need another modem with moca that accepts coaxial cable. Let's call this modem A. You'll attach your coaxial cable to modem A and then attach your netgear router to modem A with the ethernet wire. You'll want to turn off the wireless feature from modem A. Depending on how technically savy you are this part may be easy or hard. I don't know if they all work the same way but for mine, I logged into modem A by typing my IP address into the url bar on my browser. Log in using your credentials. Turn off wireless feature.
You should then be able to run the set up of your nighthawk. And whatever you do, don't call those idiots at the netgear help desk. You'll lose hours and hours that you'll never get back. Trouble shoot on YouTube like I did if the above doesn't help.
Peace.
