Connected Device Limit (RAX10)
Hi, stupid me didn't realise this router had a limit of 20 connected devices, I've got almost double that. Is there a simple, inexpensive way to extend it's capacity for Wi-Fi connected devices? Than...

Even single-band WiFi 5 routers do better than that.
Sounds like cobblers doesn't it, maybe I'm not so stupid for not checking 😀 But definitely in the specs. Firmware is up to date but doesn't resolve issue. I connect all devices and some struggle to get an IP, others drop on and off network. I disconnect some devices and all good 😐

Yes. But which specs.
The data sheet appears to disagree with the manual. And Netgear's documentation seems to have a lot of boilperplate text that gets copies between models and then doesn't get updated to reflect firmware changes.
I connect all devices and some struggle to get an IP, others drop on and off network. I disconnect some devices and all good 😐I'd troubleshoot that. But with so little details to go on, who know what is happening?
Check the logs for clues as to what is going on.
Try things like Address Reservations.
If this is the RAX10 specification, I'd have expected it to have surfaced here before now.
