DLNA server keeps getting dropped for Harddrive connected to router USB port

I tried to figure this out with technical support both through email and on the phone.  I'm almost 100% sure that the email responses are coming from a bot.  The messages are completely unhelpful and seem to only vaguely be related to my questions.  The phone wasn't much better.  The "expert technicians" tried to tell me that I needed a seperate device for port forwarding and dlna is not supported on my router.  So maybe I'll get some help here.

The issue that I'm having is that I can start a dlna server on my router using the usb port and external harddrive (NTFS formatted).  I set it up and it shows up on my home devices.  I can play the videos and all looks well but within anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour it disappears from all of my devices.  I have 2 Rokus, 3 computers, and an Oculus Quest so this is not related to any single device.  The DLNA disappears everywhere.  If I go onto a web browser and enter the router settings page I can rescan the media files and usually this will make the DLNA server appear again until the process repeats.  I reset the router to default settings and set everything up again with the same result.  Any ideas?

  • I have the exact same problem with my Rax80.
After couple of hours the Dlna simply dissappear
I have to go to the config.. Rescan and then I can use it for a while.
It is driving me crazy... I used to have a Nighthawk X4S with no problem at all for DLNA.
I hope is a firmware problem but I read that the RAX120 doesn't have the problem (Qualcomm chipset) it but the RAX200 has the same issues (Broadcom chipset... Same as the Rax80)

I was never able to get it to work.  I ended up getting the RAX120 which was on sale for the same price as the RAX80 and everything works now.  Now if only I could retrieve all my lost time. ;)
