Does Nighthawk AX5400 support a USB printer??

I just purchased the AX5400 (Model RAX50) and did so as it had a USB port like my previous netgear router which I used with the readyShare utility to attach a usb printer HP 5550. It seems the new router only identifies the usb port for mass storage devices only, and no support for a printer.  I find this highly disappointing as one would think it would be backward compatible.  Readyshare utility doesn't work with it.  Has anyone experienced this and any ideas for a workaround?
