you can also get 12v power extensions. I've seen them on amazon. but you have to be careful as you're going to get power drop with using an extension on the 12v side if you go to far.
You won't have to worry about any power drop on the 110v power side of the adapter by putting an extension cable here to the wall outlet or surge protector.
