I put my old VM router to modem mode and using the nighthawk as my main router

I’m also experiencing the same thing and I only bought the nighthawk a week ago…put my old VM router to modem mode and using the nighthawk as my main router but throughout the day I get disconnected, mine disconnects for 5-6 mins and reconnects by itself, very frustrating…I’ve not come across one simple explanation why this is happening and what action to take.

Same thing…..what, when, where, how, with whom?

A full manufacturer’s name and model number of your modem/router would be very helpful.  The same for your Netgear product.

When you start a new discussion, there are two bold lines on the form describing what is needed in the fields.  They are there on purpose.

Subject (Include model number and brief summary).

Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)

There may not be a simple explanation.  Most likely there will be no explanation without further details from you.

What is a "VM router"? A router from Virgin Media? (A name that will mean nothing to furriners.) VM has many meanings in IT.

And what did you do to get it into modem mode?

I ask because we see weekly messages from folks who make that claim after they turn off the router's wifi and mess around with some settings. That doesn't turn a  modem/router into a modem, just a slightly wonky modem/router..

As Kitsap says, the devil is in the detail.

I’m also experiencing the same thing....

Same thing as what? A message somewhere else around here?

Yes virgin media router. You can tell I’m new to this forum due to buying a netgear router unfortunately..I’m not very technical when it comes to these . I thought it should be straightforward to set up a router by following the instructions given. After doing a bit more research it turns out I’m not the only one experiencing these disconnects.. I’m here to find out if there’s any solutions.

OK  one small piece at a time.  Please provide an answer for each question.

What is the specific model number of your Virgin Media router.  Look on the label, maybe on the back or the bottom.

What is the specific model number of your Nighthawk router?  Look on the label, maybe on the back or the bottom.

What specifically do your mean by "these disconnects"?

What is the device that is being disconnected?  Again, brand and model number.

How is this device connected to your Nighthawk?  Via Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable?
