hello.
i recently contacted this same community maybe like 2 weeks ago. the staff were horrible and werent helping + they didint even read what i said in the message or maybe they didint understand maybe they were from an foreign country with bad english we will never know.
Main thing
first when i started using this wifi router i had around 150-200mbps on my pc and i was happy, it wasnt the maximum but it was still good. then that 150-200mbps fell down to 100mbps and i felt like i can still live with that and didint think that was so bad.
but the when it fell down to 40mbps that was too much so i need help to bring it up to atleast 100mbps back.
READ IMPORTANT
here i will say all the things that the people asked and didint understand.
first dont ask about the modem thats not the problem and i know it 100% i have it tested with only the router.
second i know its a 4gb router but it can atleast get 1gb to my computer. (never even got to 1/4 way to 1gb)
i do use an ethernet cable and that cable can support more than 1gbs speed.
i have an samsung phone.
its at the latest firmware update.

What wireless or ethernet adapter do you have connected on the PC?
Be sure any ethernet or wireless adapter drivers are up to date from there mfrs.
Test with a different PC or laptop to compare results.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
Distances between the router and this PC?
1Gb ethernet doesn't support beyond 1Gb. If you have a mult gig ethernet adapter then that would. However this router doesn't support multi gig speeds, only 1Gb so you'll not see much past 900Mpbs ever.
Do you get to spec speeds with the ethernet connected PC connected directly to the back of the ISP modem?

1 Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
2 yes they are up to date
3 same result
4 yes
5 does this even matter i have ethernet but anyways like 10 meters.
6 i know i stated that in the message but think about it first the package reads up to 4gbps then it says only 1gbps on 1 device then you stated "you'll not see much past 900Mpbs ever. " crazy right đ
7 the modem is much faster than the router

Ya that's marketing for ya. The 4Gb is a combination total of the WiFi connection rates that each radio supports.
WiFi 6 (802.11ax) dual band WiFi (AX4200)
- 2.4GHz AX: 2x2 (Tx/Rx) 1024/256-QAM
20/40MHz, up to 574Mbps
- 5GHz AX: 3x3 (Tx/Rx) 1024-QAM
20/40/80/160MHz, up to 3603MbpsThese are connection rates only, different from bandwidth.
I'd try a different router to compare and see if same thing happens or different.
