Macbook Pro cannot connect to RAX20

Macbook pro cannot connect to Netgear router.
Macbook Pro cannot connect to RAX20 (about 1 meter away from router), cannot see two SSIDs.
The same Macbook can connect to a Netgear WAC124 setup as an Access point.
Also same device can connect to a TP-Link Access point.
Just updated router to new firmware Firmware Version V1.0.3.96_2.0.59
I had a similar issue with an iMac a couple of months ago....I gave up on that one and no longer have the iMac.
When I do a network scan it does not show any SSID from the RAX20. Google shows many similar issues with apple devices.
Any help with this appreciated.
Many Thanks
Frank

Mixed up the WiFi legislation settings on the router (e.g. US/FCC) vs. the Mac effective location (e.g. Europe)? Different bands might be in use where the Mac is not allowed to use for example?

What's the exact model designation of your router (from the label)?
