Modem - Router
Can anyone help please I am looking to purchase a Modem - Router that will take replace a ISP Sky's SR203 Router/Modem in the UK! hope this in right list?
I cannot see all SPECIFICATIONS of the Modem – Router's available so need your help to not buy the wrong one!
I have been told I need to select 'SKY MER' Etc. DSL as the ISP, “MER or DHCP Option 60 or 61
Must and needs to have Hardwire and WiFi maybe WiFi 6 or plus? To plug a Synology NAS over network and website as well.
FTTC Land Line - Router needs to have a 3 way Splitter Box with DSL leads from wall socket DSL to Router (could be a RJ45) I suppose and a BT plug for phone as well with it.
Looking for a Router that will replace the SR203 if you could pinpoint me to one that would be great for anything between £50 and £500 Please as long as it works!
“Just in case” here is information from plug on wall by High Speed Broadband RJ11 to Cable splitter Box, from splitter Box by High Speed Broadband RJ11 to Modem/Router, Phone then plugs into 3 splitter Box female BT on box for phone, to take place of SKY Modem/Router.

You'll need to contact the ISP and ask them what they support on there network as far as users owned modems.
I recommend finding something that doesn't have a built in router. Then you can get any kind of external router to use and manage it.

Why? What do you want to do that the Sky box can't?
The bad news is that Netgear, and most brands it seems, seem to have abandoned the market for DSL modem only devices. Maybe ISPs are leaning on them in the way that they have for cable modems.
If you can lay your hands on something like the DM200, that would be a good choice. The prices are getting silly. But you may be able to lay hands on a second hand one. I bought one from an "open box" merchant. In reality it looked new, with all the usual packing and protection.
Netgear does sell modem/routers that you can out into modem only mode, the D6400 for example, but that can cause problems.

What does FTTC mean where you are Cabinet or Curb? (Dontcha love those internet abbreviations?)
I have never seen a "3 way Splitter Box with DSL leads". Modems will come with the usual DSL splitter. It is then up to you to add bells and whistles.
I agree with FURRYe38. If you can find one, get a standalone modem. (Or put your existing modem/router onto modem only mode.) Then add a router that meets your needs.
