MR60 - No option to assign local DNS server on LAN for Pihole

I'm trying to run PiHole on my LAN but the MR60 doesn't seem to have an option to assign a local DNS server. I've RTFM, I've searched the web. I need to keep the Raspberry Pi running PiHole and my NAS on static IP addresses. I know I can disable DHCP on the MR60 router and force the Raspberry Pi to handle DHCP and reserve the IP address for NAS (and maybe the RPi), but that was not the route I was hoping to go. Is there no way to plug in a local DNS host to this router? And if not, why not? This seems to be a common feature in other routers.

  • I put my dns settings for my pihole in through the internet setup page.

I do this for both the ipv4 and ipv6 settings.

I don't have a Mr60 so I can't comment on its internet setup page but for all my other netgear routers this has works.

Do you mean where it says Primary and Secondary DNS settings? I tried that but it forces a secondary DNS to be entered. What do you put for that?

I use the same ip address as the pi.

If you're using ipv6, you'll also need to setup the ipv6 info with your pi-holes ipv6 address info in the routers ipv6 dns entry.
