I'm trying to get the multi gig port to work on the router, but everytime I try to use it, I lose internet access. WiFi seems to work, but access via PC LAN is a no go. I'm forced to factory reset the router. Am I missing something in order to get the full potential of my router and setup?
The basic answer to your question is yes, you are missing something. The multi gig output of your CM2000 is a single 2.5 Gb Ethernet connection. The multi gig input of your RAX70 requires two 1 Gb ports aggregated together (LAG) using two Ethernet cables. A screen snip from your RAX70 manual (available from the downloads section above) is attached. The multi gig marketing description of your modem output does not match the multi gig (with port aggregation) marketing description of your router input. The devil is in the real life details. There are no adapters that I am aware of.
Be sure and heed the warning noted by Retired_Member above relative to switches and aggregated ports.
