Multi-Gig Speed Increase - WOW! But a question . . .

I've had the CM2050V modem for about a year (Xfinity - highest throughput plan), and just upgraded the router from a RAX50 to a RAXE500 a few weeks ago.  I didn't think much about the 1 GBps vs. 2.5 GBps port on the router, so I just plugged it into the 1 GBps port.  But then I started reading about a potential speed increase if I plugged in the ethernet cord from the modem (which already has a 2.5 multi-gig port) into the multi-gig port on the router, vs the 1 GBps port.

HOLY S#!T, what a difference.  Speedtest on the router before & after:

Before - 922 down / 91 up

After - 1809 down / 91 up

I've still waiting on Xfinity/Netgear to fix the firmware on the modem to increase the upload speed, but the impact on the entire network has been AMAZING.  I feel a bit silly almost having doubled the speed of the network with such a simple change, but whatever.

I do have a question though:  Since I made the switch, I've noticed that speed of the GUI of the router interface itself has drastically improved as well. It used to take a few seconds for the attached devices list to show up, and a few seconds to edit any of the devices and save changes.  Now, the whole experience is MUCH faster, as if I was on a normal webpage.  I'm just curious what it might have been about the change that made such a difference.  Is there something about how the router interacts with the modem/internet that is faster now?  Just curious what the minds here on the forum think.
