Yes new setup. I actually got the nighthawk 3 years ago but just moved into a new house now so finally setting it up for the first time. I've completely reset the router as an initial step to ensure no settings have already been set from when I originally bought it. I've plugged it in to NBN box. I've gone through the setup process using the app but because the app is limited the router was showing a red light and no internet access. I had to call my ISP who got me to go through the webpage setup and enable/change the vlan id to 2 and priority to 0. Which then gave the router access to the internet and allowed me to log in though the app using the PPPoE login. From there wifi was working. I got prompted to do an update for the nighthawk. after update wifi stopped working so I power cycled it and wifi was back. Then I noticed that my cable connection to my Xbox wasn't working so I power cycled again and the wifi stopped working.
Since then I've power cycled the router and NBN box again and I have wifi again but still cable connection to Xbox is not working.
Hope this clarifies a little? Thanks for the help I appreciate it

Oh dear. NBN strikes again.
What is that NBN box?
This unique Australian Internet service comes in many different flavours. For example, it has implementations of DSL that break some Netgear modem/routers. Fortunately, that won't concern you.
You will find many messages around here from people on NBN. Sadly, there aren't many expert users who can help out beyond the usual troubleshooting suggestions.
One place to seek local help is Whirlpool Forums.

But that is well outside my territory.
