My router boot up time takes almost 5 minutes to complete - is that normal?

I've had a boatload of Netgear routers in the past, but this is the first router I've had that takes soooooo long to completely boot up. It takes almost 5 minutes for it to complete, and start servic...

Straightforward cable modem with no built-in router to get in the way.

 

Five minutes may seem like forever, but it can take time to negotiate a network connection. Certainly minutes rather than seconds.

    Normally I would totally agree with you, if the last two routers I had on there booted up within a minute or two and didn't seem to have any problem with negotiating the network... Personally I just think the firmware is not streamlined. I read where other people had the same issue with this particular router. Hopefully a firmware update will fix it!
