However when I run a speed test on the Netgear 5ghz band speeds fly up to 940mbps instantly, whereas the u6 pro speeds slowly go up and aren't even hitting the peak 940mbps like my Netgear nighthawk does ?
Can you clarify that? You expect to get 940 Mbps over wifi?
Don't forget, if you use the Netgear app to check speeds on the router, it measures the speed through the modem. No wifi involved. All the wifi is connect the app to the router.

Hi michaelkenward,
Thanks for your reply,
Channel on UNIFI was set to auto: just changed to channel 48 from my wifi scanner app. And speeds seem to be running at full speed now. it recommended channel 48 is the best.

I believe some background reading would enhance your understanding of local area networks and Wi-Fi in general. Pay particular attention to the section covering 160 Mhz wide W-Fi channels. Recommend you bookmark the link as the document is updated on a regular basis.

Ubiquiti makes good products, they are solid performers but they are not race cars. I have a POE switch for IP cameras and an AC-Pro access point. They can be tricky to get setup and Ubiquiti is forever messing with the firmware. Make sure you do not have firmware auto-update enabled.
