That adapter is known to have issues with wireless AX. Realtek didn't do a good job of updating drivers to make it work either.
Instead of crippling your router by disabling AX, I'd look at either replacing the wireless card in the laptop or using a usb wireless adapter. Why hold back the rest of your network because of a sketchy adapter.

Try disabling AX mode on the routers web page under Basic/Wireless settings menu for both 2.4 and 5Ghz SSIDs.
Be sure you adapters drivers are up to date.
Might update the adapter to something newer that supports newer generation routers and wifi.
