Can you clarify what model computer? What WiFi card does it have or Network card if you are trying to connect wired?
If using wireless does it work wired?
Are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz Wifi? Are you unable to see the WiFi network name?
What version of Windows, Mac, or ChromeOS are you running on the system?
What/where are you having an error with?

Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C855 running Windows 10.
It works fine when connected to the router with ethernet cable, but the network doesn't show in the list when trying to use Wi-Fi.
I've tried disabling the CX after reading support info on the netgear site to no avail.

Assumuing you've got the old Atheros card in the Toshiba, make sure you've got the absolute latest drivers....If still a no-go try this...
1) Disable Smartconnect. you will end up with 2 Wifi Networks. 1 @ 2.4ghz and one @ 5ghz.
--Name them differently.
2) See if your Toshiba now sees the 2.4ghz network name (SSID). If still no-go...(and you made sure SSID broadcasting is enabled)...(Keep AX and OFDMA DISABLED for 2.4ghz)...
Change the 2.4ghz Network speed to the lowest possible speed available. (Up to 54 Mbps.)
Change the 2.4ghz Network to channel 6.
Change the 2.4ghz WiFi security to: WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
I don't know if the RAX48 has 20Mhz / 40Mhz options for channel width, but if it does, choose "20Mhz".
3) See if it shows up, and that you can connect. If good, then start rolling back the above changes one by one to see which one is the culprit.
Option B: Get the Intel Dual-band WiFi card to replace the one in the laptop.
Hope this helps...and thanks for providing the clarification below,

I'd put money on that laptop only being single band. Most of the specs I show for it have it with as single band wireless chip in it.
What actual wireless chip do you have in it?
