I suspect that the traffic meter is adding in your local network traffic.
I suspect it's due to latest firmware update RAX120 / RAX120v2 Firmware Version 1.2.9.52 - NETGEAR Support, which was 9/20/2023, matches the timeline.
As an experiment, have you tried rolling back to the previous firmware to confirm that the new version is the problem?
Can someone from Netgear investigate if there's bug with the firmware update that broke the traffic meter?
I wouldn't rely on posting messages here to get through to Netgear.
This is essentially a user-to-user forum, with some input from a small band of Netgear techies.

Good idea, I will test the old firmware next month (so align the meters).
It would be hard to test if local traffic is calculated, could try do large data transfer locally and see if the meter changes, but no direct number regarding local traffic usage that can be used.
Any idea how to get connect to Netgear if confirmed it's related to firmware update?

Would need to do a factory reset and setup from scratch. Start at the beginning of the time frame when your data is aligned and the compare results. If the problem remains then would need to open up a support ticket.
After you reset and setup from scratch. Be sure to save off a backup configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time when a factory reset is needed. https://kb.netgear.com/24231/How-do-I-back-up-the-router-configuration-settings-on-my-Nighthawk-router
