Nighthawk AX5 RAX43 Can’t Connect to SSID when in access point mode

Good advice. Start simple before throwing any complicated stuff into the picture.
I did do that, but I left it in router mode and connected it to a lan port on the dsl modern. I could connect to the wifi that way and then also the internet. I then tried it out in the detached garage, thru the unifi Loco M2's, and it didn't work. This nighthawk router is replacing an eero mesh router that did work out there. That's when I decided to try the nighthawk in AP mode. I've got the same setup working at another house, but using an Asus router in AP mode connected thru Loco M2's. They're basically a long range wireless transmitter/receiver setup. When in AP mode I connect to a lan port on the router in the house.

When in AP mode I connect to a lan port on the router in the house.Connecting the RAX43 configured as an access point (AP) is the correct configuration when there is another device on your network that is performing router functions.
The only way to eliminate the Unifi Loco M2's as part of the problem is to connect the RAX43 in AP mode direct to the router via Ethernet. Use the WAN port on the RAX43 and a LAN port on your router. Check from there to confirm you can connect to the RAX43 Wi-Fi and access the internet. You will need to restart the network devices in sequence from the outside in to allow the communication protocols to establish and IP addresses to be assigned by your router.
