Rather than taking the router to the local electronic recycling center, it would be nice if Netgear would allow open source firmware for EOL models. I realize that it might cut into the income stream by forcing end users to purchase new devices, yet for the tech savvy, it would be a goodwill gesture. I have flashed older models, and I realize there may be proprietary code involved that may transcend models, thus locking us out of open source solutions.
