Nighthawk MR60 Satellite pings netgear.com every second

Recently installed a pihole device and found out that the satellites in my MR60 Mesh Wifi system are pinging www.netgear.com every second (2 satellites so 2 pings per second).  The main router in the system is NOT pinging the URL and I have regex blocked anything netgear related in it's own group and assigned it to the router and satellites which does not affect them at all.  I unplugged both satellites and I don't see the traffic anymore.  Anybody know why it's doing that and why it's doing it so frequently?  I've seen other threads on Orbi routers that say it happens once every 30 seconds or so.  I don't really mind that it does it, but it throws off all of the data from pihole.
