Nighthawk RAXE290 showing un-owned devices as wired connections

I recently set up a brand new Nighthawk RAXE290 router connected to a charter spectrum modem. I had the router set up and running for about a week before I noticed slower speeds on all devices connected to the network. When investigating I noticed that my router had many devices listed under the "allowed but not connected" and some which were actively connected that I did not own. These included IoT devices (I do not own any smart home devices) random synology routers, something called an RKOSERVER and other unidentified devices, all of which were listed as being a wired connection. In an attempt to fix the issue I restarted, power cycled and factory reset the router multiple times, with these devices always reconnecting, albeit sometimes not immediately. I had an older spare Netgear router on hand and switched it out for the Nighthawk one for about a week and did not see any of the aforementioned devices connected or in the "allowed but not connected" section of the AC page. The router is on the latest firmware as well.  As far as logs go, none of the logs showed the router assigning any of these devices with IP addresses, which did appear for wired devices that I did actually own, additionally my internet IP was changed when I swapped the routers, and I had changed the default network password for the Nighthawk on the most recent reset and still these devices appear.

I was wondering if anyone else had had a similar experience or could advise me on what the situation may be.

That's an interesting issue that could use some investigation.

There are regular reports here from people who see unknown attached devices. One recent example was from someone who had to dig down to discover that the anonymous device was their own unidentified iPhone. The growing use of random mac address by Apple and others has made this a common event.

Sometimes people realise that somewhere around the house there is something that they didn't realise has an Internet connection.

Then there are devices that end up snaffling two IP addresses

Another factor is that these lists can build up and show stuff that has not been on the network for quite some time. Add to that the fact that Netgear's firmware may have mislabelled a device, and you could be in for a wild goose chase in trying to work out what is really going on.

That is what I was thinking too is that it was just some common error, however I am a not too sure as all these new devices are showing up as wired connections when I know the online thing plugged into the router for a wired connection is a powerline adapter. I am happy to provide screenshots of whatever may be necessary if need be.

Powerline adapters won't show as attached devices, only things connected through them.

I assume that you are looking at Access Control what does it look like in Attached Devices?
