Nighthawk router in AP mode
Hi I want to put my Nighthawk mesh router in Access Point (AP) mode so that network connected devices will be in the same IP address range of the internet connected device (I have a Netgear Night...

In ap mode, the satellites will still function fine. I use it all the time. Don't worry about that.
I would put the hotspot in passthrough mode. I'm willing to place money on whatever mesh system you have (you don't say) has a better processor than the hotspot. the hotspot is going to be power limited and heat limited versus the mesh system will usually have a decent heatsink and active power to dissipate heat. That'd be the router I'd go.

Perhaps plugging the NAS into the mesh router puts in the 192.168.1.n range of the M6? Which does not make sense because its ethernet cable is plugged directly to the ethernet port of the mesh router which should put in the 10.0.0.n wireless subnet. Or does it? Maybe plugging the NAS via ethernet cable puts the NAS in the M6 subnet 198.168.1.1. Which would be weird because it would mean the ethernet port in the mesh router is connected to the subnet of the M6. But that is the only explanation I have for this behavior at the moment.
Are you saying that you can see both networks 192.168.1.n and 10.0.0.n?
That shouldn't happen in AP mode. It is supposed to pick up IP addresses from the main router.
I may have misunderstood this. The conversation is getting a bit confusing.... to me at least.

You are doing well and have helped quite a bit. I got so enthused about passthrough on the M6 that I completely forgot about AP mode.
If AP mode means only one subnet then that will solve the NAS connection problem.
However if I have passthrough on the M6 I think I will need to have the mesh router in router mode.
Would like your opinion on this if you don't mind.
Given that I want passthrough mode turned on for the M6 device to prevent overheating should I set the mesh router to AP mode as well or leave it in router mode?
I am thinking the mesh router will need to be in router mode to do the routing when passthrough is turned on for the M6 ...not sure though. Any idea?
