Password settings
Where are the password settings on the AX8 RAX70?
Every time I go to log in I get a forgot password and have to do a crazy reset. Each time it tells me I need a longer more complicated password. I want to use my password so I do not have to look it up each time or recreate a password to get to my own router.
Where are the settings!?! WTF!

Which password?
Netgear makes life interesting by having all manner of passwords. There is the one into the router's controls, then there are those to get into the router's wifi.
If you are trying to use the "password recovery" option, there is a bug in Netgear's implementation of password recovery on some devices. You can get locked into a closed loop.
If password recovery is enabled, but you have not set the answers to the questions, it keeps sending you back to the beginning of the process. If you haven't already given the thing your personal answers, they are not in its memory and it has no way of knowing if they are correct.
If the standard factory password (password) does not work, then you will have to factory reset the thing to get back to that. Then either disable password recovery (check the manual for your device) or provide some answers to those questions. How do I perform a factory reset on my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Did you do that? Netgear, like many other IT outfits, seems to be adamant that it knows best on passwords

Manuals are always a good place to start.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.
Check the section in the manual Change the admin password
.
You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads. While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
