Problem with Firmware Update to Ver V1.0.12.120_2.0.83
I have an RAX50 Router and just did a firmware update to Version V1.0.12.120_2.0.83 I was using a laptop with WiFi since it does not have an Ethernet port. After I did this update, I lost my intern...

I am fine now. After I did the firmware update and then finally connected to Internet via Ethernet, I was able to log into my router via http://routerlogin.net/start.htm
I saw that my SSID and password for WiFi access were set to something that was not my own; I believe it may be the original factory SSID and password but not positive. So, I just reset my WiFi SSID and password back to what it should be for all my devices using WiFi devices to work OK. BUT, a firmware update should not do this. As far as I know there is no requirement that you do a firmware update via an Ethernet connected laptop ... is there?
Hope nobody else has this problem.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

In order to do any type of Restore of your router settings you need to have an Internet connection .... correct?
Most newer laptops no longer have an Ethernet adapter port, so they rely on Wireless.
Without WiFi, you need a way to connect to your router with an Ethernet cable.
This is a problem and a reason why everybody that has one of these laptops should invest $15 or $20 to buy an external Ethernet adapter to plug into a USB port.

No.
You can use WiFi to save or restore backup files.
Yes, USB to ethernet adapters are cheap and easy to use.

In my case, I was not able to use WiFi because for some strange reason the Firmware update changed my WiFi SSID and password to something else. My laptop did not have any WiFi nor internet after the Firmware update. It was not until I connected to my router via another laptop with Ethernet connection that I realized what had happened and was able to change the SSID and password back to the setting that I originally had before the Firmware update.
THE WHOLE PURPOSE of this post is to see if there is a problem with this Firmware update and to ask if other people have had their WiFi SSID and password set to another value after this Firmware update to V1.0.12.120_2.0.83
