QNAP Performance Nobbled By Netgear RAX70
The Support Case Number is 44251876
I have just installed a Netgear NightHawk RAX70 to use in Access Point Mode. In general it works really well, I can achieve over 100 MB/s sustained transfer between computers over the WiFi and downloads from the internet are great too.
The problem is that it would appear that Netgear have nobbled their sustained data rate when connected to a QNAP array via WiFi. This is presumably to make their own offering shine! When I transfer large files to my TS-659 Pro the best I can get is 35 MB/s to 39 MB/s!
To prove the issue I attached the TS-659 as a logical device on the remote computer their by disabling the Netgear NightHawk from interrogating the TS-659 and the performance immediately increased to more than 50 MB/s which is as much as can be expected in this configuration. When connected by wired connection the array sustains more than 100 MB/s
I referred the matter to support and they had me doing all the usual stuff including downgrading firmware. They finally agreed with me that the issue was probably firmware and the issue needed to be escalated to 2nd level support. Despite calling each day for the last 3 days to ask why I not had any contact from support I am still waiting!
Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue with Netgear Routers?

Hi Christian
I have not been contacted by Level 2 support or anyone else for that matter. In fact I noticed recently that the case had been closed! I have opened a new case and am now being asked questions like are the led lights flashing!
Needless to say I am unimpressed with Netgear support which is a shame as the RAX70 performance is very impressive in every other respect.
