R6700AX stopped connecting to bridges

I have a pretty weird problem.  In order to provide internet to a couple of remote devices, I have been using a couple of different solutions for different locations:

Case 1 - downstream wi-fi router in bridge mode  (Ethernet from LAN port on R6700AX to WAN port on downstream router, a Linksys EA7500)

Case 2 - Ethernet over Power (EoP) hub connection to EoP wi-fi router.  (These are NETGEAR - Powerline AC1000 Wi-Fi Access Point and Adapter)

This setup has been operating flawlessly for the last couple of years.  Suddenly, it stopped working.  Wireless devices can connect to the respective remote routers but, seemingly, not to the network.  I get a "connected, no internet" message on computers and phones.  On TV's I get "Wi-Fi connected, no network, no internet."  Connecting to the R6700AX still works fine, but it's signal doesn't reach where I need to go.

So, I thought it might be some setting that got changed on the R6700AX in the last automated firmware update or something.  I reset the router to factory settings (Reset button) and tried my downstream routers again.  Still no luck.

Is anyone aware of ant setting that might be causing this problem?  I'm stumped.

 Any help is appreciated.

  • What modem/gateway is the primary router connected to?

Did you try resetting the downstream devices?

      Hi Plemans,

      It's an Arris TM3402A that's provided by our cable co, Cox.  So, TM3402A > R6700AX > Linksys EA7500 or

      TM3402A > R6700AX > Netgear Powerline AC1000 Wi-Fi Access Point

FWIW, the R6700AX doesn't have any problem with other wired Lan devices, like A pc or TV, just the bridges

Is you linksys in access point mode?

the cascaded routers shouldn't be in router mode or it causes a double nat.

so make sure the downstream routers are in some type of access point mode (or whatever that specific manufacturer calls it)
