Wifi access point wont be a option as I'm using most of my devices with cable. And also I don't think putting the Zyxel in only modem mode would be good, as I'm using all the ports on the router.
Maybe I need to upgrade my entire system? For example run the router/modem in only modem mode, then split into two routers from there? The most important part here is that I keep the LAN aspect of it as I'm streaming movies with Plex in both buildings.

You can still use all LAN ports even when the router is in access point mode.

That was also in the first message.
There is a big difference between "Internet drops" and LAN "loses connection".
Which is it?

The wired devices on my Netgear router, which is running in AP mode, loses internet connection and also LAN connection. It's like they dissapear. Restarting Netgear router makes the devices go online again and also show up on the LAN.
Please bear with me, this is not my first language, and I'm no networking expert sadly.
