RAX120 Router Random Disconnects
Hey everyone, I know that I'm not the only one with problems on the Nighthawk WiFi 6 devices, but thought I'd post my most recent headache. My hardware consists of a Motorola MB8600 DOCS 3.1 modem w/...

So far so good...given the frequency at which I was having the disconnect issues on the 118 level, I think I would have easily hit it multiple times by now if it was still present. I'd say the 122 driver brings us back to stable.
There are plenty of other issues I'd love to see them address, like the exorbinent amount of white space in the UI and the requirement to use either static IP with your WAN or one of their support dynamic IP services in order to enable the VPN server (I have my own domain and url that is kept up to date by my NAS, why assume I *have* to do it through the router?). But, at least it's performing well at it's primary function again.
Goodluck!

Hi all & dj2819
Thanks for asking how I got on! Well as you know my RAX40 was picked up on Monday and I am awaiting a full refund. My RAX120 was supposed to be delivered yesterday but actually turned up around 2pm today. After re-wiring a new flat ethernet cable up the stairs (tucked under the carpet) I thought I will now open my Amaon delivery and set things up. Honestly, its only been on for about 2hrs now but everything went through on the app successfully, the firmware was updated to v122 and so far so good!!! excellent wireless range all around the house, both 2.4 & 5ghz. No disconnections as of yet but it is still very early days. I will obviously keep you updated on this post should anything happen or occur.
The router itself looks fantastic and it actally suprised me how much it weighs! I am yet to connect all my wireless devices but I will get the rest done this evening.
Jay.

In addition to the above, just run a speed test and I am getting 400mbs download and 40 upload over wireless!
Fingers crossed I dount encounter any issues over the coming days/weeks. Obviously I will keep you posted.

- PlacesandspacesJun 17, 2020ApprenticeNot sure what speeds you are paying for but if you are on a gig plan I turned off OFDMA on both 2.4 & 5 g bands changed 5 g channel to 36 and my wireless and actually my wired speeds shot up a bunch. So if you run into speed issues that is something you can try.

Hi all,
Just to let you know it has been two days now and everything is looking good. I did notice a couple of drop outs from my PC whilst working from home yesterday but nothing since. Love the RAX120 design, still early days but looks promising.

I experience, on my RAX120 router, continuous wireless disconnection problems, both at 2.5GHz and at 5GHz, of performance and sometimes even drops in internet connectivity. I have had the router for two months now and it is getting worse. Any solution or firmware update to solve? I have the V1.0.1.122.

robertoselmi Hello, really strange... I was experencing the same issues with my RAX80... luckily where it was still in warranty I sent it back to the store I purchased from for a full refund. I then purchased a RAX120 which was almost double what I paid for the original RAX80 but I know this doesnt help you but once I set up the RAX120 I have had no issues what so ever? I dont think Netgear really know other than to send you a replacement router and just try again. I am running firmware version V1.0.1.122 since last month when I purchased and no disconnections at all.
I would suggest contacting Netgear Support in the first instance... I was getting very frustrated with continuous disconnections especially as I am working from home and have been for the past 4 months now.
Good luck!

I think it ultimatly has to do with the type of network you have (devices, interference, etc) and if the RAX series agrees with it. I had 2 different RAX120s and both had the same exact issues so I don't think its a bad device. I really wish someone of the community would help. The forum posts for mesh unit disconnects had a Netgear moderator finally show up as ask for users with issues to direct message them to get their issue escalated. Wonder when (if ever) this post will get some of that attention.
Meanwhile I can't stop recommending the Alien router. It works great and their community is watched by engineers from the Ubiquiti team. Really nice to have a product where they take their customers seriously.
- PlacesandspacesJul 11, 2020ApprenticeYeah the Alien router is no joke. Just got 4 of the to get all my devices hardwired in every room. It has a feature where you can toggle Ethernet backhaul and connect them that way ( I am using MOCA setup to do that) and showing 940 mbps in every room hardwired. The only downside to the Alien is there is no WAN or LAN aggregation so 1 gig is the max you can get but it is a slick router. RAX 120 is still good. Hard to part ways with it.
