Rax120. Trying to get 2gig speed out of the router

I just got 2gig fiber internet at my home. I have verified I am getting 2gig coming out of my modem. I have it set up on the router setting to run on the 5G Ethernet port (as it called it) and have it plugged into the back of the router using the multi gig port. Originally when I had it set up on the regular internet port I was getting about 940 meg and after switching to the multi gig port I am now getting 1040 meg far from the 2000 meg I should be getting. Anyone have a suggestion to resolve my speed issues or improper setup?

Thanks

  • Though you'll have 2Gb up to the router on the multigig port, the other LAN ports are only rated at 1000Mpbs. You'll never see much over 900Mpbs on these ports.

Wireless you could see 2GB on 5Ghz AX, you need a wireless devices that supports 4x4 MIMO. 2x2 MIMO devices top out at around 700-800Mpbs.

  • If all you want to do is see the numbers, install the Nighthawk mobile application on your phone or tablet.  In the application there is a test that measures the throughput from the internet into your RAX120.

A good way to check on the service your ISP is delivering.
