So I opened up a support case for this. We were able to get the full 500Mbps by downgrading the firmware by one version. Steps:
>> Open a web browser on a device which is connected with router and enter the URL: support.netgear.com
>> Please type in your router's model number and hit enter
>>Click on DOWNLOADS
>>Download a previous version
>>Unzip the file if required
>>Open a new tab and enter the URL: www.routerlogin.net
>>If the page asks you to log in, the username is admin (lower case). Password is the one that you might have created during the initial setup of the router
If it does not accept the password then the default password is the password(lower case).
>>Once you are logged in, at the top, there is BASIC and ADVANCED, click ADVANCED.
>> On the left side there are few tabs, click ADMINISTRATION then click ROUTER/ FIRMWARE UPDATE.
>>Upload the file that we just downloaded
>> Once the firmware is updated, the router may reboot. If it doesn't reboot then turn off the router and turn it back on after 10 seconds.
