RAX200 - Wifi visible but no traffic possible. Randomly daily. Restart works for few hours then.
Hello! Got my RAX200 for over two years now and only since 1-2 months following happens: Wifi is shown on devices but without internet connection (and I can't even connect to the router itself). ...

Thanks to all the thoughts, I'll close this thread and accept the answer - helpful or not.
As I stated multiple times, the LAN-connection via RAX works perfectly, only WIFI is affected but it seems that the modem is the only thing that is on everybodys mind and the only valid explanation rather than looking at the issue itself. This configuration worked for years, with different Netgear products before the RAX and in different locations and all devices (including modem) had been rebooted multiple times.
I know about the network-issues you all describe and I'm familiar with network topoligy. Btw. the router uses DHCP to get a valid IP from the modem and I'm quite sure Netgear can handle this basic network feature without resulting in a "confused" router and even if it would get confused, then there would be NOT traffic possible via LAN (which - again - works perfectly).
At the moment I'm guessing a heat problem, which several other threads seem to show with same issue and even on different RAX-devices if too many Wifi-devices are connected.
Again, thanks for the given support - unfortunately none of which really adresses the real issue with lost WIFI-connection while LAN is working.

Firmware: V1.0.10.140_1.0.79
GUI: V1.0.10.140_2.1.46.1
ISP is Standard-Cablemodem. Not authentication required. DHCP connect.
Since I cannot even access the Router via Wifi when the problem pops up and LAN-connection works fine, the ISP should not be the issue.
The problem definitely lies within the RAX200.

ISP is Standard-Cablemodem. Not authentication required. DHCP connect.---That doesn't tell me what specific modem it is. It might be a strict modem only device. it might not. Without a model, we don't know for sure.

The problem definitely lies within the RAX200.---not 100% proven yet. Double-nats can cause issues like this all the time. Its why we ask what actual modem/gateway you have. So can a sketchy firmware issue. Maybe somethings corrupt in the firmware or settings (since that firmware is over a year old). You can try re-installing the firmware and then doing a factory reset/reinstall. Just don't install from a backup in case something is corrupt.

The modem is a "Unitymedia Connect Box CH7465LG-LC Wlan Router".
I dismissed it, since LAN-connection via the RAX was always not interrupted, sorry for the assumption. Will try to install an older firmware and then the new one again as was suggested in another thread...

As plemans hints, two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with address on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.
What is Double NAT? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router. Sometimes it is easier to put the second router into AP mode. But that has its own drawbacks:

Playing with firmware isn't likely to fix the "double NAT" issue.

Sorry that's the only number that can be checked on the modem and I double checked with google, it's exactly that modem which I have from T-Mobile.
The modem is connected to the RAX with a single LAN-cable, everything else on the modem deactivated and of course the IP-Range is completely different on both devices. LAN-connection is working all the time, shouldn't the Double-NAT interrupt that as well if that is the issue?
Besides that, this configuration worked for two years without problems, and no obvious changes were made at all, that's why I'm asking the community. 🤷♂️
Thanks already for all the thoughts I got from you!
