RAX30 2.4 OR 5G
I want to use some 'smart plugs' mfgd by YoLink to control house lights. They only support networks using 2.4. When I try to link the YoLink device to the network, it is denied. No doubt the route...

You can try re-enabling it. It might work/connect. If it doesn't, just disable it. Or use an old wireless N router for those devices (in access point mode)
Basically means poor coding on the yolink part.
but at least you've figured out what needs to be done.
Great work.
I'd mark the solution as solved since you know whats causing it and how to fix it.

You just need to make sure your phone is on 2.4ghz during setup.
The RAX30 has an option to disable smart connect (that changes devices between 2.4ghz/5ghz)

Thanks for the tips.
I have tried connecting both with/without Smart Connect activated. Neither will connect. As for the phone, I have an iPhone. How do I make sure it is on 2.4 during connection? Can't see an option in the iPhone to do that.

With smart connect disabled, simply name the 5ghz something different from the 2.4ghz. That'll allow you to know which to connect to.
also make sure to disable icloud relay and random ip/mac on the iphone. I've seen those cause issues lately

Thanks. I have disabled smart connect and the 2 bands do have different names. See screenshot from Nighthawk. icloud relay and random ip are disabled. The app from YoLink doesn't allow me to pick a band. When I get to the screen where it wants me to log in, it says 5-GHz band is not supported. No option to change to the 2.4 band. It then simply searches and comes up empty.

Make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4ghz during setup. If the app is saying "5ghz not supported" its picking up the phone is connected to 5ghz.
