RAX35 SSID - Sticker does not match Firmware so don't know Password to Configure
I bought a used RAX35/AX3000 from a shady seller on eBay. I've been trying to configure it but the SSID reported by the firmware does not match the SSID on the sticker attached to the router so I don...
and worst case scenario? borrow a laptop with an ethernet port or buy a usb to ethernet adapter to use with yours.
I'd recommend buying the adapter as you never know when you need to hardwire into a router/device for changes.

You can use a mobile device to go through setup using the qr code on it.
Or potentially the seller sold you one and stuck a random sticker on it. There should be a label on it that has all the info on it.

Thanks for that. I bought a USB to Ethernet adapter and got into the router on routerlogin.net and found the OEM SSID and Password revealed during set-up. I recorded them and put a label on the router for after the next reset. On closer inspection, it looks like the NG label on the router may have been removed as there is a subtle waviness to its texture when you examine it from certain angles.
My new issue is that SmartConnect kept giving my MacBook AIr (ac-capable modem) an 802.11n connection rather than am 802.11ac connection. I'll have to see if there are any solutions to that. In the meantime, I. disabled the SmartConnect and enabled a diff 5GHz ssid.

Smart connect has been hit or miss for some people. I've noticed that the more I use it, the better it functions. Not sure the exact mechanism for their band steering but i usually wait a couple days after turning it on for the bandsteering to settle down and be on the proper channels. If they don't end up on the band I prefer, then I disable it and run them standard.
With the way my network is setup, my router acting as primary (CAX80) only has the 5ghz enabled so if my orbi setup is putting a device on the 2.4ghz that should be on my 5ghz, I just connect it to the primary router and not the wireless AP network.
