You're showing dhcp on and it being assigned a 10.0.0.* address.
what address is the shaw device on?
What modem/gateway is it connected to?

Shaw device (which is the modem/gateway) is on 10.0.0.1
I had a friend who's in the networking side of telecom set this up but he's unfamilar with Netgear devices. The intention at one point was to isolate the IOT network from the "main" network to prevent potential hacks through the less secure devices. This may be why it seems a bit weird of a setup. I have an average knowledge of computers/networking but I must admit I find this router lacking and/or different of options compared to what I've used in the past.
Thank you for the help.

Not sure how your friend setup the rax so its not on its default ip address and its dhcp is on. Seems like something wasn't setup right.
I'd factory reset both devices.
Leave the shaw in router mode (disable its wifi) and then put the netgear in AP mode. What actual gateway is it from shaw?
