RAX40 wifi crashes with AX1800 extender

Hi!

currently I have troubles with my RAX40 router. Everytime I want to connect my new AX1800 extender the WLAN Modul of the router crashes. Normally the extender cannot connect to the router. Sometimes I see for a few seconds, that the extender displays with the LED light, that it is connected to the router.

but devices can only connect to the extender afterwards, not internet connections anymore. I also see no wlan on the router anymore. In this state I have to reboot the router again.

So instill use my old EX7300v2 extender which works for someways, then the wlan of the RAX40 also crashes and I have to reboot again.

firmware is 1.0.5.104

does anybody has the same problem, or even better knows a fix for the problem?

Regards

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) - NETGEAR Communities

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Did you set it up using the push button WPS option?

If so, factory reset the extender  and set it up using the installation assistant.

To factory reset, push and hold the reset button for 7-15 seconds while powered on.

Here's a video of how to use the assistant.

Nothing worked. Only crashes on the RAX40. I disconnected the RAX40 now, and I am using my cable modem/router from my ISP. Here I can use the mesh extender. It seems to be more stable too. One iPhone had one time connection problems to the extender, but after quick restart of the extender everything. But the „new“ router is working without crashes.

it seems I have to go this way, which is not the way I intended, because I wanted to use ax and wpa3.  But to restart the network every other day is also not charming.

        regards
