I used the web interface of the router to upload the "RAX50-V1.0.15.128_2.0.89.chk" file. It uploads and attempts to install. It does not reboot. I had to manually reboot the router. It comes back with the original firmware version. Is this up=date compatible with the model RAX54S-100NAS?

It is. Make sure to download the correct version for your hardware revision (v1 or v2)

Is this the version you found?

RAX54S Firmware Version 1.0.15.128 - Hot Fix | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Firmware and model numbers usually have to be an exact match.
