RAX50V2-drops wifi internet only to Lenov E15 laptop. Ethernet, other devices OK, alternat router OK
2yr old RAX50v2 router w/ v1.1.4.28_2.1.26 firmware (latest) drops wifi interconnection ONLY to my Lenovo E15 Gen 2 laptop with wifi card AX201NGW.
-Occurs mid-use.
-No internet on 5G, 2.4G, and both guest networks. Issue since July.
-Router reboot will restore internet connection. Will randomly dropout in the same day or next.
-iphones and a Lenovo T14 laptop connect to the wifi internet from the RAX50 OK during this occurrence
-Lenovo E15 does see the wifi connections and can connect back to the router via wireless 192.168.1.1
-Router status is OK, all white lights on that should be.
-Router GUI shows Internet Port as "Green".
-No internet errors in the log. Did note that the loss of internet occurred tonight about the same time as a time synchronization ([Time synchronized with NTP server] Monday, Dec 02, 2024 20:45:05). Using Netgear default NTP server per GUI. Coincidence??
-For troubleshooting tonight, connected an older Cisco router to the RAX50v2 on port 4, Cisco does pass wifi internet Ok on 5G and 2.4G bands. Streamed TV on ethernet streams fine from RAX50 during wifi internet loss.
-Has been an issue nearly every use session since this summer (2024). May have corresponded to a driver and/or RAX50v2 firmware update. Worked fine with this PC prior to that for many months.
-PC reboot will not enable wifi internet but RAX50 reboot will restore it.
-After waiting ~45 min without any reboots, wifi internet can be restored. (noticed this 1 time while typing this post, have not waited that long in the past)
Symptoms initially suggest the wifi card/driver is at fault BUT it will connect OK to the Cisco router. Can flip back and forth between routers, RAX50v2 does not pass wifi internet but Cisco will. Appears to be a Netgear-Lenovo specific issue. Seems to be a RAX50 issue now, not wanting to pass wifi internet but still maintains wifi connection.
Troubleshooting
-Uninstall adapter & re-install. Checked adapter is running latest driver via Intel site. Re-seat wifi card.
-Check router software is latest via Netgear GUI and web site. Factory reset of router & setup from scratch.
-Alternate router test per above.
Next steps plan
-Roll back RAX50v2 firmware to previous version and see if this continues.
-Check RAX50 log next time this happens to see if there is occurs with a NTP server time sync
-Completely uninstall PC adapter, delete driver file, re-install with new intel file.
-New AX201 adapter card on order. Not able to upgrade to AX210or AX211. $20 check.
AX201 adapter is supposedly a hot mess per O/L posts, but it works fine on the Cisco router (can flip between NG and Cisco and replicate no wifi internet on NG)
Has anyone seen this issue? Any solves are appreciated!

Something I noticed last week while having my RAX50v2 online, internet was bad, even with ethernet connected PC.
I disabled Protection Engine and haven't seen anymore problems. Might give this a try as well.

what actual driver is on the wifi card?
Have you tried a USB based wifi card to see if it is specific to the current card?

Another suggestion provided of turning off Protection Engine resolved my issue. Will continue to monitor this week.
THX!
Glad the disabling protection engine worked.
But that isn't your drivers.

Furrye38,
Your suggestion of turning off Protection Engine worked!
Fired up the PC from hibernation tonight, connected fine for 5 min and boom, no internet.
Logged onto the RAX50v2 with my phone, double checked PC would not connect, unticked Protection Engine and after clicking Apply, PC internet was restored.
Need to see what Protection Engine actually does now, not a lot of clarity on the community posts.
Assume this may have been included as part of my last firmware upgrade.
THANK YOU!!

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
