From reading, you're using a raspberry pi (pi hole?) for this? I had the same experience with it. Most people I know that got into it, setup a secondary, failover pi. An older one, one hosted in a docker container, or even a pi zero with mods. Its what you deal with when you start that process. The pihole is the entry to playing with more. I'd ran the pihole plus a pihole in a docker container for backup/failover.
then I moved to an opnsense build on a UPS (backup power supply), zero issues since. It just works and works much better because yo use the opnsense as a router and put the orbi in AP mode. I've noticed a massive difference in performance

Its pretty much that a pi with adguard. I could set up a second but from my testing so far the problem wouldn't change as the raxe300 is slow to check the secondary dns when the primary drops.
