RAXE300 keeps dropping R7000 used as wireless AP
I recently got an RAXE300 and it constantly drops hard-wired devices including an R7000 set up as a wireless AP. It's there for a while, then gone, then I reset everything and it shows back up, then...

That's a good thought, but no, I haven't tried a different cable because it's a huge pain to re-run it. That's about a half-day job crawling through my attic.
But I don't think that's it because the cable worked fine previously with the R7500. Also, the RAXE300 keeps dropping other hard-wired devices as well. Putting all those facts together, the cable seems unlikely and I'd much rather investigate other potential causes before I spend several hours crawling around the attic to run a new cable.
Can you think of a reason why the cable would work with the R7500 but not the RAXE300?

For some people – not, I hasten to add, microchip8 – the first suggestion they come up with is "get better cable". In 99% of these cases, possibly more, that is just a waste of time. But very occasionally cables do go bad, especially when you are plugging them in and out of things.
Before you risk lifwe and limb and climb up into the attic, you could eliminate that possibility from the equation by checking that the cable still works with the old router.
Climb back up the troubleshooting again with the usual questions. That means filling in the gaps in your information.
What happens when the devices disappear?

Also, I'm not sure if it's related, but the RAXE300 almost never shows the correct devices in the connected devices list. And many times it shows some of the devices with the wrong IP address.That raises the usual boilerplate questions to eliminate some of the more common issues that crop up here.
What firmware version do you have on the new device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware with an app or in the browser interface.
If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that connects this router to the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.Did you reset the whole caboodle, from the modem onwards when you introduced the RAXE300?
The bits and pieces on the network adapt their settings to match the environment around them.
Just because your network played nicely with the R7500 does not mean that the settings will adapt themselves with the new router.
The modem is a Netgear CM2050V.
When the devices disappear they usually lose internet connection but not always. Sometimes they lose internet and remain on the attached devices list. Sometimes they have internet and do not appear on the attached devices list. Basically the attached devices list is meaningless.
I have since re-installed the R7500 and it is working so far but it's too soon to tell if the R7000 eventually drops. As noted above, the RAXE300 would always work for a while when everything was reset.
Regarding firmware, it had an older version when I first got it but I don't recall what it was. I upgraded it to whatever the latest is as of right now and the behavior remained the same. If someone knows a particular firmware version is a good way to solve this problem, please let me know.
Regarding resetting, I have tried ever possible combination of power-on sequencing multiple times and the RAXE300 always connects with the R7000 first and eventually drops it. And then reconnects. And then drops.
And yes, concur cable is a good suggestion but it really doesn't seem like the issue and it's a pain to replace it.
Hopefully the R7500 continues to work. I didn't need a new router - I lost internet and the modem said it had a fine connection, so I thought it was the router and I replaced the R7500 with the RAXE300. But then it turned out the issue actually was the modem, so then I replaced that. So now I have internet to the RAXE300 but issues with the R7000 AP.
