That's all you will get so a 2.5 port would not get you anymore than 600Mbps.
I'm guessing you are US where I'm U.K. so I don't know all the various types available but I'm sure if you posted some a helpful person will help out.
I'm also bit confused as I'm not sure the router you are looking has 2.5 connection. What's the model you are looking at?
