Hi all,
Thanks with the replies. I tried setting my router back to factory and reconfiguring it. Same results I cannot get better than 250mbs. I have this router since 2016 I guess it about time to replace it.
I have checked all my ethernet cords and they are good, I can plug them from my computer to the ISP router and get 1Gig no problem. My network is mainly hard wired except for a couple of wifi connections.

Sounds like sensible thinking. But I would worry that replacing the R6400 could still end up in the same place.
Maybe the existing equipment that connects you to the ISP is the issue.
What is the "ISP router"?If it is an ONT (optical link), maybe you don't need ISP the router.
And if it really is a router, then the R6400 may be fighting over control.

what modem/gateway is it connected to?
When you reset the R6400 back to factory, did you test it with the defaults? Try that first before reinstalling. And don't reinstall from a backup configuration.
