router / extender compatibility

I need to purchase a new router as mine has died last night. I currently have an R6250 connected to an Arris Surfboard modem and  a PL1000 Powerline extender.

My primary uses are work form home (2 computers), TV streaming, Smart home including alarm, lights, smoke and Alexa. Music  and would be 2nd and gaming is not in the picture as we do little to no gaming.

I am looking to replace with the Nighthawk AX8 8-Stream AX5700 Wi-Fi 6 Router and would like to know if:

1) Are the Powerline and the AX5700 compatible

2) Would I be better served by one of the mesh systems that are available now

3) If the mesh systems are the best choice, will I have decent file transfer via the USB port from my hard drive to the mesh system.

    Hello liv2hunt,

The powerline should be fine with the AX8 router. In terms of performance, this comes down to the wiring of your home. If the powerline performs well as of now, plugging in an AX8 router should do the job.
